I have been vegan for long , but I recently faced a few health challenges so I changed my diet .
The first challenge was I had an episode of Cervical Spondylitis, for two months I was bedridden with pain . I had to take nerve medication to dull my pain .
This is when I did my study and came across a YouTube video of someone who had dealt with the exact same condition. She recommended eggs as one of the diet additions .
It was tough for me to think of this as I have been a vegan for long , I had put my type 2 diabetes into remission and lost 18 kgs of weight with my diet protocol.
But I was facing this challenge that just did not seem to resolve with anything and I was doing daily physiotherapy . Nothing was working.
So I finally added 3 free range egg whites daily to my diet . Now I don’t know if this is what worked but I got better. Also I noticed my hunger cravings in the evening reduce .
The second episode was a gastrointestinal infection, which lead to diarrhoea, and flared up my IBS . I never have had good gut health with bloating and gas and cramps . But I took it as that is the way it would be .
This time I decided to pay attention and it’s early days but I am finding some good change . I introduced a probiotic supplement and added curds and yogurt to my diet .
This comes after my study on the subject of good bacteria and it’s role in health .
I continue to be and will stay off milk and all other dairy products.
I also stopped whatever little gluten I was having so absolutely no wheat .
I am also off any packed foods .
These actions have helped me a lot .
1. Introducing boiled egg whites to my diet daily .
2. Having curds , yogurt and probiotic supplements daily
3. Stopping all packed and junk foods .
4. I don’t have any milk and other dairy products.
5. I replaced tea and coffee with lemon ginger drink.
6. Introducing banana as my go to fruit daily .
I continue to use my CGM to monitor my blood glucose spikes .
I hold no judgement for anyone on their diet choices . I am only doing what is working for me and I constantly learn as I face challenges and am open to experimenting with an open mind .
I keep sharing what I learn freely with everyone.
At 58 I know it’s important to take care of one’s good health and getting into medicines is not a good choice unless essential. Lifestyle is something we control and it makes good sense to stick to healthy lifestyle.
